HOW CAN INTERNATIONAL DRUGS POLICIES SUCCEED? - 1-4 FEBRUARY 2007, WILTON PARK, UK
Focussing on key policy areas and the practical implications, this conference, which includes perspectives from a cross section of stakeholders, aims to: create a forum for frank discussion under the Chatham House Rule in a discreet residential environment, to increase the understanding of participants of the aspirations and concerns of each other and thereby the scope for common action; identify through a pooling of ideas and experience the key challenges and the most realistic ways of dealing with them; foster and create personal contacts which can prove important for taking forward future action. How sound are existing anti-drugs policies? What would make international and national efforts more successful? Where should efforts best focus? What is realistic and achievable in the run up to UNGASS 2008? Is it time to "think the unthinkable"? The Beckley Foundation: Briefing Paper Eleven. Report Of The Third Beckley International Drug Policy Seminar.
The Beckley Foundation organised its third annual international seminar on drug policy in the House of Lords, Palace of Westminster, London, United Kingdom, on 4 December 2006. The objective of the seminar was to examine the preparations for the forthcoming global review of the international drug control system.

Beckley Drug Policy Seminar - Proceedings Report
In October 2004, The Beckley Foundation hosted the latest in its seminar series - Drugs: A Rational Perspective. This event, held in the magnificent surroundings of the Moses Room in the UK Houses of Parliament, was our first attempt to focus on international issues. This proceedings paper summarises the presentations and subsequent discussion on evaluation frameworks for national drug policies, and on the development of the EU Drug Strategy, and draws out the main conclusions of the day. Wilton Park 2005 drugs seminar proceedings document
The Wilton Park organisation, an agency of the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, organises seminars on issues of global policy interest. These seminars are attended by a select group of high level policymakers and experts, and are held under Chatham House rules which allow participants to examine issues free from the constraints of public meetings. In April 2005, they hosted the latest in a series of events looking at international drug policies. In a programme jointly developed by The Beckley Foundation, this year’s seminar focussed on the effectiveness of different policies and programmes.
